Transport

The Powerhouse Museum is located at 500 Harris St, Ultimo and is close to Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Central Station (Sydney Terminal), Broadway bus station (Railway Square), and Exhibition Centre Sydney Light Rail Station.

The Goods Line provides an accessible pedestrian route from Central Station, past the iconic Dr Chau Chak Wing Building designed by Frank Gehry.

The 501 bus stops directly outside the Museum.

For bus, train or ferry timetables and routes either phone the Transport Information Line on 131500 or go to the website.

Walk from Sydney CBD: George St, turn onto Hay St and use the pedestrian covered footbridge to arrive at the Museum. This is an approximate 10–15 minute walk, 700 m.

Walk from Darling Harbour: Pyrmont Bridge Road, turn left onto Harris St and continue along until you reach the Museum. This is an approximate 15–20 minute walk, 1.2 km.

Train to Central Station and short walk: Train to Central Station, take the western exits to Railway Square and George St. Turn left at Railway Square and walk to Harris St located on the right. This is an approximate 10–15 minute walk, 800 metres. Alternatively, the 501 bus service from Railway Square travels along Harris St and stops opposite the Museum.

Bus from Sydney City and short walk: M30 bus (Sydney Buses) from the Queen Victoria Building, York St. Arrive at George St near Campbell St, Haymarket. Turn right onto Hay St and use the pedestrian footbridge to arrive to the Museum. This is an approximate 10–15 minute walk, 700 metres.

Bus from Circular Quay and short walk: 422 bus (Sydney Buses) from Circular Quay Stand A. Arrive at Hay St near Pitt St, Haymarket.  Walk down Hay St and use the pedestrian covered footbridge to arrive at the Museum. This is an approximate 15 minute walk, 850 metres.

Ferry to Circular Quay, bus and short walk: 422 bus (Sydney Buses) from Circular Quay Stand A. Arrive at Hay St near Pitt St, Haymarket.  Walk down Hay St and use the pedestrian covered footbridge to arrive at the Museum. This is an approximate 15 minute walk, 850 metres.

Light rail to Paddy’s Market stationWalk west of the station and up the steps (or take the elevator located at the entrance to the Entertainment Centre car park) to the covered pedestrian footbridge. Continue west along the footbridge towards Harris St until you reach the Museum, located on the right. This is an approximate 5 minute walk, 300 metres

Car Parking
There is limited metered street parking near the museum, located on Harris St, Macarthur St and adjacent streets.

Novotel Sydney Central car park, 179 Thomas Street, Haymarket

Discounted all day parking is available for Powerhouse Museum visitors at the Novotel Sydney Central car park. Discount parking rates are $17 per day Monday to Friday. To obtain the discount, present your Powerhouse Members card or Museum ticket/receipt at the car park at time of payment.

Discounted $14 all day parking is available for Powerhouse Museum visitors. To obtain the discount, your parking ticket must be validated at the machine located in the Museum shop before returning to the car park.

Secure parking, 320 Harris Street Darling Harbour. Enter via Allen Street. Phone 02 8912 4900. While this parking lot is convenient for accessing Powerhouse Museum, MAAS does not have a discounted parking offer with this parking station.
